In July I laid low. But August? August will be busy. I’ve got six shows to report—four that I’m rapping in and two that I’m organizing.
TL;DR: This month I’m organizing two shows you should absolutely come to in Brooklyn on 8/7 and 8/15. I’m also performing in Philly (8/16), DC (8/23), and Brooklyn (8/13 + 8/27).
Let’s start with the most immediate (like, tomorrow or tonight immediate): Another Rap Show #13 on Thursday August 7th at Secret Pour in Brooklyn featuring Dot Dev, Slim Carrey, miles cooke, Yolanda Watson, and Beatsgotdan. If you’re in NYC, this lineup is one you definitely do not want to miss. It’s wild to think it’s been almost two years since our first show in September 2023—if you haven’t been to one of these yet, now would be a good time to start coming.
After that, the MIKE AND DON: THREE NIGHTS IN AUGUST mini tour kicks off on August 13th. Me and my guy ialive will be hitting three cities over the course of 10 days. Here’s what that will look like:
August 13th at Secret Pour in Brooklyn (9pm) with Spoken Nerd, Darko The Super, and Marcus Pinn
August 16th at Century Bar in Philadelphia (8pm) with Plib, Felipe Pupo, Irv the Villain, and Misfit Toyz in the Attic
August 23rd at Haydee’s in Washington, DC (7pm) with Prowess The Testament, Ardamus, Enoch 7th Prophet, and LT Headtrip
I almost used Mike Tyson and Don King for the flyer, but that felt a bit fraught so I went with Michael McDonald and Donald Fagan.
On August 15th, I’m helping DanO and K from FREEMUSICEMPIRE put on their FME NYC SHOWCASE. This one is at Young Ethel’s in Park Slope (Brooklyn), and this is also a lineup you do not want to miss featuring Skech185, Nappy Nina, Shemar, August Fanon, and several special guests. DanO and K do so much for independent rap through their podcast, so I’m extra excited to have a way to give back and help them put on this show.
Last but not least, I’ll be closing out the month back at Secret Pour on 8/27 for The Taste of Vomit’s NYC tour date. TOV was nice enough to ask me to perform alongside Meditate, Zilly900, and Onni Oxenfree. So if you can’t make the 13th in NYC, don’t fret! I’ll be back rhyming on the 27th. Or maybe I’ll see you twice…
OK that covers it. I hope this dispatch was relevant for at least some of you. Stay safe, stay sane, and I’ll catch you at a show or two.
